Built on Portland’s waterfront, our 74’ steel gaff cutter has enjoyed hosting guests aboard since 2006. Designed and built in the spirit of tradition, Frances is a replica of working coastal pilot cutters that sailed the waters of Maine and New England between 1790 and 1812. Her workboat design heritage sets her apart from modern sailing yachts, and it is precisely these qualities that make her an ideal platform for entertaining under sail.
Frances has wide, spacious decks and low on deck seating for ease and comfort. Our large canvas awning ensures shade for picnics at anchor, and an escape from the elements if weather rolls in.
Sample local flavor at our on-board Boat Bar. We have been serving beer and wine at our bar since 2007. A special event warranting a refreshing cocktail? Our catering partners can come aboard to serve handcrafted seasonal cocktails that perfectly compliment your summer entertaining.
Frances has partnered for this 2024 season with two of Greater Portland's finest caterers, Dandelion Catering Co. and Lake & Co. Regarding food and drink, we are pleased to deliver nothing short of excellence onboard. Fresh local produce and innovative, beautiful food paired with the season, our catering options truly bring out the beauty of our ship.
Field Floral Studio is available for private events such as weddings, birthdays, and summer parties. Field is a floral and event design studio based in Portland, Maine. Field creates loose, wild, and unique arrangements that highlight the naturally beautiful shapes of the materials therein. From June through October, they source flowers from Maine farms and forage all over for novel flora.
Frances charters for two or more hours. Small parties, large parties, corporate outings, wedding ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, and every kind of celebration in between.
